Grande Does Its Part For Local Food Banks

Four hundred forty nine tons. That’s what the Passion & Commitment Investment Club’s Hunger IS YEAR ‘ROUND Food Drive since 2000 have contributed to the organizations in our communities that provide relief from hunger for our neighbors.

The first food drive- when Grande had 180 employees- netted .25 of a ton (around 500 pounds). This year, through some of the most creative fundraising events ever, Grande employees added 38.3 tons to our bragging rights column.

With all the fun and food raising, the seriousness of the need drove us to provide food for food banks and the agencies they serve. We filled the bare shelves and provided healthy choices for many who struggle to either pay bills or eat, are too young to fend for themselves, or are housebound by illness – just a few reasons why it is important to serve our communities with passion and commitment.

Many of our customers participated as well. Some donated food at our retail centers, some gave cans, jars, sacks, and boxes to our installation crews. Our vendors provided funds, auction items, or food to be sold to profit the food drive. In San Marcos, our business neighbors Ember Industries and Butler Manufacturing, contributed to our efforts as well.
