why We’ve launched four new, exciting channels in High-Definition – The Weather Channel HD, Travel Channel HD, CNN HD and FSN HD!

At Grande, we strive to bring you new and exciting channels every day because our customers are our #1 priority.

This past May, we sent out a customer survey asking our current HD customers which channels they would like to see added to our lineup. In the past year, we’ve added USA HD, Sci Fi HD, NFL Network HD, Disney HD, TBS HD, Animal Channel HD, Golf Channel HD, Versus HD, Science Channel HD, The Weather Channel HD, Travel Channel HD, CNN HD and FSN HD – all based on valuable customer feedback we’ve received.

With the launch of these four exciting channels, Grande now offers over 40 channels in High-Definition! “Stay tuned” for more High-Definition channel launches later this summer!

Thanks for adding FSN HD. Been waiting for 2 years for Astros games in HD on Grande. The games last week vs Dodgers worked fine in HD on Ch 348 in Austin, but this week they are back to standard def. If FSN is only providing HD Astros/Rangers games on certain days, then why does Time Warner receive every one in HD? Is there a schedule for what days you will actually show HD games on this “new HD channel”? Grande Tech Support was unable to answer these questions.

M.M.: Thank you for your comment. According to FSN both Grande and Time Warner receive the same FSN HD channel signal. This means we both have the same programming for this channel. Also, as many “HD channels” FSN HD is not 100% HD, it will show many programs in Standard Definition, usually content that was not originally recoded in HD.

I understand that HD channels do not have 100% HD programming. For purposes of this conversation, I’m talking only about Houston Astros games in Austin. You obviously do not receive the same FSN HD signal.

For example, this Mon-Wed vs Cardinals on Grande 348 (FSNHD) all Astros games were standard def. However, the same nights on Time Warner (Austin)were all broadcast in HD on their FSNHD channel. I checked. Again, tonight (Friday) night Astros vs Mets the exact same situation applies. Time Warner in Austin has the HD feed on their FSNHD channel and you do not. Why?

Well, here we are more than week later. Guess what? No Astros games in HD. Matter of fact, not one single program in HD on FSNHD Ch 348 in Austin. Just standard def FSN being replicated on Ch 348.

It is clear now what Grande is doing. It only took me a few weeks to figure out I was being lied to by Customer Service reps, but they finally fessed up to it – Grande won’t be showing HD Astros games on their “new HD channel” FSNHD; perhaps the remainder of your customers will put up with it a little longer.

It is a shame, too. I have your FTH (fiber to the home) and it is fantastic internet. Sure, I’ve had issues with Grande’s billing (double billing, taking months to resolve, cost increases from 100 to 160/mo for the same service over the last 2 years, etc) but those inconveniences were tolerable, as I want to keep my business local. What isn’t tolerable is being deceived.

For those looking for Houston Astros games in HD in Austin, your options are Direct TV, and Time Warner Cable. Not appealing, I know, but enough is enough.

MM – Thank you for bringing this important matter to our attention. We strive to consistently provide our customers with the best products and services every day but even we hit bumps in the road along the way. After extensive research, we found a technical problem in the Austin HD feed. We believe we have fixed this problem so that you should now be able to experience the Astros games in High-Definition quality. The next scheduled HD game will be the Giants vs. Astros game tonight at 7:00 pm which we will be monitoring to make sure this problem has been resolved. Thank you again for being a Grande customer and we apologize for any inconvenience.
